Malaysia e-Invoice Compliance: What Business Owners Must Know

The Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN) has mandated e-Invoice for businesses above RM100M. Here is what you need to prepare now.

Malaysia's e-Invoice mandate under LHDN (Inland Revenue Board) is being rolled out in phases. Businesses with annual turnover exceeding RM100 million were required to comply from August 2024, followed by businesses above RM25 million in January 2025, and all remaining businesses by July 2025.

What is e-Invoice?

e-Invoice is a digital document that replaces traditional paper or PDF invoices. It is submitted in real-time to LHDN's MyInvois system for validation before being sent to your buyer. Each validated e-Invoice receives a unique QR code and validation number.

Key Requirements

  • All sales transactions must be reported via MyInvois system
  • Invoices must include supplier and buyer TIN (Tax Identification Number)
  • Supports B2B, B2C, and B2G transactions
  • Must be submitted within 72 hours of transaction
  • Buyers have 72 hours to reject a submitted e-Invoice
